ScentHQ is a fragrance price-tracking tool. The information you share while using it helps us improve your experience and the experience of other fragrance enthusiasts. We aim to be transparent about what we collect, deliberate about how we use it, and conservative about what we don't.

What we collect

Account information you provide when you sign up: your email address and a password (stored as a salted hash, never in plaintext).

The fragrances you track, the retailers you track them on, and any target prices or notification preferences you set.

When the browser extension is installed and you click Track Price on a supported retailer page: the URL of that page and the product details extracted from it (name, brand, size, current price).

Operational logs that record significant actions you take inside ScentHQ — for example, that you signed up, that an alert email was sent to you, or that you clicked through to a retailer. We use these logs to debug issues, prevent abuse, and measure whether the product is working.

How we use it

To provide the service: deliver alerts, surface deals, populate your dashboard, and verify your account.

To improve ScentHQ for you and for other users. The fragrances people track help us build a more accurate, more comprehensive fragrance database — which means better cross-retailer comparisons, more reliable price history, and faster detection of new SKUs. We design this so that what you share helps your own experience first, and improves the product for everyone using it.

To send transactional emails (price drop alerts, account confirmations, password resets). We do not send marketing emails without explicit consent.

What we don't do

We don't sell your personal information to third parties. Ever.

We don't share your individual tracking history with anyone outside ScentHQ. Aggregated, de-identified market signals (e.g. "Aventus is currently the most-tracked fragrance") may inform product decisions, but never with your name or email attached.

We don't read or modify any web page outside the three retailers our extension is permitted to operate on (Jomashop, FragranceNet, FragranceX). The browser controls this — we couldn't expand it without your re-consent during an extension update.

We don't use behavioral advertising, retargeting cookies, or third-party tracking pixels.

Third-party services we rely on

Supabase — authentication and the database that stores your tracking data.

Vercel — hosting and serving the website.

Resend — sending transactional emails (alerts, password resets).

Cloudflare — DNS and domain management.

Each of these processes data under their own contract with us and is bound by their own published privacy practices.

Your rights

Access: ask us for a copy of the data we have about you, and we'll send it.

Deletion: delete your account from the dashboard, or email us, and we'll delete your account and all associated tracking data within 30 days. Backups are purged on a rolling 90-day cycle.

Correction: if anything we have about you is wrong, tell us and we'll fix it.

Opt-out: you can stop tracking any fragrance at any time, or uninstall the extension, without losing your account.

Children

ScentHQ is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in jurisdictions where that's the applicable threshold). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll remove it.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your data in any material way, we'll email registered users at least 30 days before the change takes effect.
